Thanks to Comfort Keepers-A POA’s testimonial

By Florida Comfort Keeper · September 28, 2009 · Filed in Client Testimonials · Comments Off

As POA, I would like to express our thanks to Comfort Keepers for all of the assistance you have given our loved one and for the peace of mind we have in knowing that she is well taken care of.

She requires a heavy demand of care, 24 hour care, 7 days a week.  The Comfort Keepers who are assigned to her not only take an honest interest in her well-being, but they treat her as family.  They engage her in conversation, make sure she eats, read to her and discuss what is on television.  Each Comfort Keeper works diligently to engage her in daily activities.  We could not ask for a more caring and genuine group of caregivers.

We also have tremendous peace of mind knowing that she will never be left alone.  The few times that the scheduled Comfort Keeper could not report as scheduled, you have always taken care of this immediately, even if it means that you send someone from your office staff until a replacement arrives.

Peace of mind, confidence and professional treatment is of great importance for us, and we can say that we have had that for almost two years now.  We know that her quality of life is so much greater than it would have been without her Comfort Keepers.  Thanks you for all you have done for her.

Is It Time for Home Care (part 1)?

Everyone selects in-home care for different reasons.  The key is to recognize when to introduce and how to select the right care provider.  The following are the first set of questions that can help you decide if the time is now to seek help for your loved one.

  • Has there been a recent medical or emotional crisis?
    • More often than not, family members wait until their loved one has had a major medical crisis such as a broken bone or a wandering episode related to dementia.  Be proactive.  Research your options for care before you are in the middle of a crisis.  You will make the best, most informed decisions for your family member.
  • Are they bathing less often?
    • Seniors  bathing less often is usually due to one of two factors:
      1. They have become weaker and unsteady and are afraid of falling while bathing.
      2. They have dementia and do not remember when they last bathed.
    • Bathing daily is just as important, if not more so, for seniors.  Due to incontinence issues, doctors suggest bathing everyday to avoid skin breakdown which can lead to “bed sores” and unnecessary trips to the hospital.
