Comfort Keepers®, Central Florida’s leading provider of non-medical, in-home care, recently awarded Iva Floyd the “Comfort Keeper of the Year” designation for 2009.

Each year, each of Comfort Keepers’® 600 independently owned offices may nominate one Comfort Keeper of the Year. To qualify, this person must treat their clients as though they are members of their own family, maintain a positive attitude and commitment to their work, and support the Comfort Keepers® mission and philosophy.

Floyd was selected as the regional winner for the designation out of eight finalists, and was recognized at the Comfort Keepers’® national convention in April 2010. Iva is known for being an extraordinary woman in all aspects of her life; she has boundless energy and quiet enthusiasm as a Comfort Keeper.

“This past year, Iva held the hands of many of our clients in their last moments of life, and this remarkable woman was there to comfort not only our clients but our client’s family members too,” said Lynn Domenech, Comfort Keepers’® co-owner.

“Iva goes beyond the role of being a Comfort Keeper in that she attends as many funerals as possible for her clients who have passed away. Iva has driven for long distances to be present at client’s funerals. She also showed up to support some members of our Gainesville office staff who lost family members during 2009. On more than one occasion Iva has driven for more than an hour to attend a funeral and returned to Gainesville on time to staff an assigned shift,” she added.

Floyd has been a Comfort Keeper since 2005. Iva is also a loving caregiver to her two grandchildren whom she cares for during the

day, and she is extremely involved in her church. Each year Iva helps raise money for The Alzheimer’s Memory Walk, American Heart Association, and the March of Dimes Walk America.
