Over 525 lbs of Food Collected so far in the STOP Senior Hunger Food Drive
Did you know that one out of every nine seniors in the US is at risk for going hungry? The main reason for this shocking statistic is because most seniors have been put in a position where they have to choose between food or medical care. Here are a few myths about the rising rate of senior hunger in the US.
Myth #1 – Senior hunger only effects those with low-income
Yes, those seniors that are low-income are at a higher risk of going hungry. But it isn’t just the low-income that is suffering. Those seniors that can afford to buy food often don’t have access (or mobility) to get to the store.
Myth #2 – It doesn’t affect you
In reality it affects all of us in one way or another. Most people care about others enough to be concerned if people around them going hungry. But more than just being a concerned American, this problem probably hits a lot closer to home than that. In fact, you probably have an elderly parent or grandparent in your family who has limited mobility or no access to going and buying the food they need unless you or someone else takes them.

The food drive is running now and will continue through November 30th. So far 525 pounds of food have been collected. While that’s a great start it won’t begin to battle this epidemic. We need YOUR help in fighting this war on senior hunger.
